Who We Are
Originally established as Textile Conservation in 1989 and based in Banwell, Somerset, the studio became a limited company in 2005 and moved to Bristol in 2008. It has a team of four qualified conservators covering a range of specialisms within textile conservation including the treatment of costume, tapestries, upholstery, flags and contemporary art.
The team also give talks, run workshops and participate in professional, educational and research activities including supporting new and emerging conservators through offering work experience.
Meet our team
Alison Lister ACR
Alison has worked for the studio since 2003 becoming the Director and Principal Conservator in 2006. She qualified as a textile conservator in 1990 and worked as a course tutor at the Textile Conservation Centre from 1991-2001. Alison has a University of London Advanced Diploma in Higher Education Studies, and was an Associate Tutor in Conservation at Camberwell College from 2001-2013. She is the textile conservation advisor for the Diocesan Advisory Committee of the Diocese of Bath and Wells and Bristol. Alison is a part-time doctoral student at the University of Hertfordshire researching private practice in conservation.
Caitlin Hartmann
Caitlin is a Studio Assistant. She has a BA Hons degree in Textile Design specialising in Weaving from Chelsea College of Art, having graduated in 2021. Caitlin has a specialist interest in textile heritage and has worked with organisations such as Khadi London and artisan partners in India to design fabrics and conduct research into sustainable textiles, fibres and hand crafts.

Constanze Zimmer ACR
Constanze completed a dressmaking apprenticeship at the Opera House in Berlin followed by a six year long training in textile conservation at the University of Applied Science, Cologne. Constanze came to England in 2007 to work for the Historic Royal Palaces and the Victoria & Albert Museum. She is an assessor for the ICON Professional Accreditation of Conservator-Restorers scheme. Constanze joined the studio in 2009 and currently works on a freelance basis.

Marina Herriges
Marina holds an MPhil Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow (2020). She also has an MA in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain (2018) and a BA in Art, Conservation, Restoration from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Portugal (2016). Marina joined the studio in 2020, after working in a range of different heritage and conservation organisations in Brazil, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. Marina currently works on a freelance basis for the studio.
